"Out of Line"

In early 2006, I was invited to collaborate with the poet Harvey Hix in an exhibition at the University of Wyoming Museum of Art. The exhibition and panel discussion centered on the idea of collaboration, specifically between visual artists and writers. Also included in the show were pieces by Mark Ritchie and Alyson Hagy.

Harvey and I met every Saturday in my studio to discuss and work on the collaboration. Initially we each took four pieces of drawing paper and wrote or drew on them as we saw fit. We then exhanged these and worked with, and sometimes over, what the other person had done.

Eventually, we began incorporating plexiglas, mylar, and other drawing papers into the mix. The final result for this show was displayed on a tension-fit shelf installed in the museum between two pillars.
